Japanese Kimono 2 Section Tansu Chest
Kimono tansu chest from Japan during the Showa era during the mid 20th century. Made from “Sogiri” Kiri wood with iron hardware, this two section tansu chest was traditionally used for kimono storage. Tansu is the term given to the antique cabinetry of Japan that was popularized between 1860 and 1910 to provide portable storage for small spaces. A combination of utility and beauty, each piece carries a unique history.
